The St. Nicholas Orthodox Academy 2008-09 Students



Website Update - 08/25/08

St. Nicholas Academy is now in the process of updating the website. Part of this process will be teaching students how to maintain and further develop our site. Stay tuned! 2008 Graduation - 06/02/08

Elizabeth Ehrlich, Christine Reid, and Ben Johnson are St. Nicholas Academy's proud graduates of the 2008 school year.


Greek Dancing - 05/27/08

After a lot of practicing with teacher Roy Ioannides throughout the school year, students showed off their slick new dance moves to family and friends.


Natural Habitat for Frogs - 06/08/08

Finally, St. Nicholas Academy's habitat for frogs project is finished. In a corner of the school's garden we created a small pond ranging from 3 ft. to 6 in. A solar powered pump keeps the water circulating and oxygenated by activating a small waterfall every time the sun shines. More Photos Here!


KSU JEHP Student Qualifies as National Merit Semifinalist - 09/25/07

Benjamin N. Johnson, 17, of Marietta, has been named a National Merit Scholarship Program semifinalist with a score of 232 out of a possible 240 on the 2006 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, placing him in the top 1% of students taking the test.

August 18, Monday: School begins.

September 1, Monday: Labor Day: No school

 

  • September 8, Monday:
    Liturgy for the Feast of the Nativity of the Theotokos
    is from 8 – 9 a.m. Classes begin at
    9:30 a.m.

October 13 and 14, Monday and Tuesday:
No school: fall break


October 22, Wednesday: Last day of the first academic quarter.


  • November 21, Friday:
    Liturgy for the Entrance of the Theotokos into the Temple is 8 to 9 am. Classes begin at
    9:30 a.m.


November 26, 27, 28, Wednesday thru Friday:
Thanksgiving break.


December 19, Friday: Last day
of school, Christmas break follows.


January 7, Wednesday: School begins for the year
2009.


January 14, Wednesday: Last day of the first semester.


January 19, Monday: No school on Martin Luther King Day.


  • February 2, Monday:
    Liturgy for the Feast of the Meeting of Our Lord in the Temple
    is 8 to 9am. Classes begin at 9:30 am.

March 2 & 3, Monday & Tuesday:
No school. Great Lent begins March 9.


March 24, Tuesday: Last day of the third academic quarter.


April 16, Holy Thursday thru April 24, Friday:
Paschal break.


April 27, Monday: School resumes.


May 25, Monday: Memorial Day: No school.


  • May 28, Thursday:
    Liturgy for the Feast of Ascension of Our
    Lord
    is from 8 to 9 am. Classes begin at 9:30 a.m.


June 4, Thursday: Last day of school and end of second semester.

High School Graduation Ceremony:
1:30 pm.
